The ten nominees have been announced for the BBC Young Sports Personality of the year award and this year the girls are running the show occupying eight of the ten places. 

The nominees are as follows:

Caitlin Beevers (18) - Rugby League - Caitlin was part of the Leeds Rhinos side that claimed victory in the Women's Challenge Cup in July and made the final of the Women's Super League Grand Final in October. She was a member of the England squad that went to Australia and Papua New Guinea for the World Cup Nines and a two-match test series.

Sky Brown (11) - Skateboarding - The youngest of the nominees impressed on the international senior circuit this year winning bronze in the Park Skateboarding World Championships and securing third spot in the world rankings. She also won the hearts of the public by donating her STU Open Park bronze winnings to charity.

Caroline Dubois (18) - Boxing - England's most successful youth boxer of all time won gold at the Youth European Championships in Bulgaria and also became national champion this year.

Bethany Paull (18) - Artistic Gymnastics - Bethany has won four gold medals at the Disability Welsh Championships as well as two golds, two silvers, and overall gold at the Special Olympic Work Games in Abu Dhabi.

Aaliyah Powell (17) - Taekwondo - Aaliyah is junior world champion and won silver at the Junior European Championships. This year, aged 16, she won bronze at the senior World Championships and in doing so became the youngest British taekwondo fighter to win a senior medal.

Ottilie Robinson-Shaw (17) - Kayaking - Ottilie has represented GB since she was 15 and this year became ICF junior world champion in freestyle, junior British champion in freestyle, world bronze medallist and senior British champion in squirt and senior women's champion in the Hurley classic.

Toni Shaw (16) - Para-swimming - Aberdeen-born Toni won two golds, two silvers and two bronze medals at the World Para-Swimming Championships and holds 14 Scottish records across the S9 and S10 classifications.

Maisie Summers-Newton (18) - Para-swimming - At this year's World Para-swimming Championships Maisie won gold in the 200 individual medley in a world record time and well as silver in the 100m breaststroke and bronze in the 100m.

Charlie Aldridge (18) - Cycling - The young Scot became the first Brit to become a junior men's cross-country world champion in Mon-Sainte-Anne this year.

Josh Hill (15) - Golf - Dubai-born Josh became the youngest male golfer to win a World Golf ranking event winning the Al Ain Open in October aged 15 years six months and 27 days.

The winner will be announced at the BBCs Radio 1 Teen Awards and will also attend the BBC Sports Personality of the Year awards show in Aberdeen on December 15.
