HALF-TIME: No there won’t. Everton lead at the break through a Danielle Turner striker after 21 minutes. City have had the possession and the chances but none of the goals!

Intriguing second half to come…

45 min: Throw-in comes in deep inside the Everton half and immediately the visitors relinquish the ball yet again, but you imagine that won’t bother them one bit. They have kept City at arms length for much of the last half an hour after a positive start from the hosts.

Will there be one more flurry at the end of the half?

43 min: Looks as if Everton are going to go in ahead in this one. Remarkably, having had barely any of the ball and essentially just one shot on goal, they will be in front at the break.

Gareth Taylor will be pulling his hair out. His side could not have done much more.

41 min: Yet another corner for City as Kelly forces the pressure on her former club once more.

It’s played short and then eventually lofted in to Houghton at the back post. The England captain heads it back across but no one is there! Everton clear again and City fans are left frustrated.

38 min: That was a real chance for City, maybe the best they’ll get for the rest of the half.

Everton are not afraid to play it out from the back against City, even if it is a way of relieving pressure momentarily. City come forward once more…

36 min: CHANCE! Scott has been the one for City who is really trying desperately to make things happen and she very nearly does so!

The England midfielder turns brilliantly on the right side of the penalty area and fires a low ball in towards Kelly. It looks to be a certain equaliser but Kelly can’t get a clean contact to turn it towards goal and it drifts away from danger. Should have done better!

34 min: So Danielle Turner’s lead still separates the two sides here. City have been largely dominant but need to create more in the final third.

32 min: Another corner for Manchester City. Can they finally make one of these pay?

In it comes from Stanway… punched clear from Korpela. It’s launched back in but a tame header is safely gathered by the Everton shotstopper.

The visitors looking more and more assured as the half goes on.

30 min: City now taking the sting out of the game a little as it threatened to get a bit blow-for-blow for a second there. The home side were in control before the goal and they’re looking to regain that authority again once more.

28 min: Stanway finds Lavelle inside the penalty area and Korpela does brilliantly to dive low down to her right to tip the American’s shot away.

Doesn’t matter, would not have counted anyway as Lavelle was offside.
