Am I the only one who was so giddy about the return of football that they forgot there is such a thing as a bad game?

I’m starting to remember that now.

20 min: The away side work the ball from left to right as Enda Stevens and George Baldock both fail to find a way through and the ball rolls out for a throw-in for Villa.

Been that kind of game so far.

Safe to say its not been the most captivating first 15 minutes. Rather sluggish from both sides.

14 min: The match has gotten a little tepid in the last few minutes. Sheffield United are sitting deep and letting Villa dictate the play.

But the hosts have created little and are yet to find a killer pass.

7 min: Davis is played in again after a long, straight ball over the top. He appears to be in on goal before the flag is raised late.

Good start from the home side.

4 min: We were all prepared for it to be bizarre, but that doesn’t stop it from still being so. Crowd noise is funnelled through the stadium as the strangeness begins.

Davis fires the ball across but it’s cleared by the visitors inside the six yard box for a corner.

Shot comes in from Hourihane and Henderson gets down smartly to his right and make the save.
