Rachel Ball does it! Britain has a new world champion!

Rachel Ball has done it! All three judges have the Briton winning it and she is crowned the new WBC super-bantamweight interim world champion.

99-91, 99-91 and 99-92. Little wide for me but no doubt about the winner!

WBC interim super-bantamweight world title

Worth mentioning that Ball has won the interim WBC belt, a version some would not classify as the ‘full’ title. But the originaly fight was due to be for the WBA bantamweight world title and was taken away from Ball because Guanini could not make the weight.

So yes, technically Ball may not have won the ‘full’ version of the WBC belt but it would be very harsh to take the ‘world champion’ tag away from her after what she has been through this week.

Terri Harper up next

Don’t go anywhere because up next is a ‘fully-fledged’ world title fight between Britain’s Terri Harper and Norway’s Katharina Thanderz for both the WBC and IBO super-featherweight titles.

Got your breath back? Good. Let’s go!

Terri Harper v Katharina Thanderz

Here we go then! Both fighters are in the ring. It’s Harper v Thanderz. Could well be fight of the night.

Terri Harper v Katharina Thanderz: Round 1

That’s a superb start from the Yorkshire-born fighter. Moving in and out with supreme confidence as she marks up Thanderz face with a punchy jab. A few right hands get through for Harper as well as she shows her class early on.

10-9 Harper.

Terri Harper v Katharina Thanderz: Round 2

‘Good girl’ shouts Harper’s trainer Stefy Bull from her corner as her one-twos and pinpoint jab is proving too much for Thanderz right now.

It’s simply stuff but it’s all she needs to do to put another round in the bag. The Norwegian struggling to find her range at the moment.

20-18 Harper.

Terri Harper v Katharina Thanderz: Round 3

This is world class boxing from Harper. Thanderz lands what is probably her first meaningful punch of the fight at the start of the third but that’s all the joy she gets in the two minutes.

Harper’s smart footwork and doubling up of the jab is simply too good for Thanderz and it’s a shutout so far from the Brit.

30-27 Harper.

Terri Harper v Katharina Thanderz: Round 4

Thanderz is in deep waters here and Harper could be looking at her first stoppage victory in four fights if she keeps this up.

Harper’s jab is so, so impressive and while Thanderz lands with a nice uppercut, it’s probably still not enough to take the round.

40-36 Harper.

Terri Harper v Katharina Thanderz: Round 5

Have Terri Harper’s arms grown since the draw with Natasha Jonas in August? Is that possible?

She is peppering Thanderz with the jab from all angles right now. Thanderz doesn’t look in too much trouble but Harper’s boxing far too well for the Norwegian to get into range. Performance of the night?

50-45 Harper.

Terri Harper v Katharina Thanderz: Round 6

Harper’s legs looking a little slower in the sixth as she begins to stand and trade a bit more with Thanderz.

Not much to choose between them in a less action-packed round and probably the first that the Norwegian has taken.

59-55 Harper.
