Enormous amounts of work have gone in to combating the spread.

Praise for the NHS and faith in all the work they have been doing.

14 days stay at home

If ONE person has symptoms, the whole household must stay at home for at least 14 days.

This is for the safety of others as much as yourself.

Helps protect the rest of society.

REMEMBER: the great majority will have mild or moderate symptoms.

Use NHS online services as 111 is becoming over-flooded.

Healthy 70+, chronic illness sufferers, pregnant women need to be most careful

Older people and those in adult life who would normally be advised to have flu vaccinations e.g those with chronic diseases, pregnant women.

YOU have a duty to help

Aiming to reduce the stress on the NHS and the impact it has on them.

This is by social distancing and continuing to follow guidelines.

Broadly 3 groups we need to consider

Deaths directly caused by the disease to those with underlying 

SIGNIFICANT number of other deaths that could be caused as the NHS become overwhelmed.

Some measures may have indirect negative impacts on health.

OVERALL MORTALITY RATE AROUND 1%

Chris Witty assures that not everyone will get symptoms, some may get mild or moderate disease and it is not fatal to all.

A small but significant minority need hospital care.

Overall mortality rate around 1% and being old does not necessarily mean the case will be worse.

Measures have 2 aims:

Delay transmission and keep people safe

INCLUDE: 

Whole-household isolation for 14 days if one person in the house gets the infection.

Increase social distancing.

Work from home.

Reduce unnecessary travel.

Avoid gatherings, big or small.

Reduce social contact.
